Multimetric Index to Evaluate Water Quality in Lagoons: A Biological and Geomorphological Approach

In recent years, Multimetric Indices (MMIs) have received a lot of attention thanks to their ability develop integrative evaluations water quality, particularly in lagoons. this article, we propose new MMI for determining the quality The proposed index is composed biotic and abiotic indicators, particular macroinvertebrates, macrophytes morphological indicators. based on geometric representation phenomenon associated with an ecological system, ecosystem elements are mapped as vertices network relationship between them represented by corresponding edges. We classify status bodies, from very low high using ratio. compare our different indices that measure such General Biotic Index (JP(G)), Macrophyte River (MIR) Shannon diversity (H’) validate Pearson’s correlation coefficient. A strong JP(G) MIR (R2 = 0.8605 R2=0.7661, respectively) obtained. Although other indices, independence respect its component proven structure model studied. close called medium articulation highlighted, which allows determine missing relationships structural analysis. presents more comprehensive than most currently used has advantage scalability, since existing indicators can be integrated into model.
